Union of Russian Writers is a non-governmental organization uniting Russian and foreign writers (novelists, poets, essayists, etc.). Union of Russian Writers was established in 1991, when on the basis of USSR Union of Writers three independent associations were formed: Union of Writers of Russia (the "patriotic" orientation), the Writers' Union of Moscow and the Union of Russian Writers ("democratic" union). Union of Russian Writers includes more than 3,500 writers from Russia and former USSR. Union of Russian Writers consists of 58 regional organizations; the most representative of them are situated in Moscow, St. Petersburg, Vologda, Voronezh, Ryazan, Vladimir, Smolensk, Yaroslavl, Tula, Orenburg, Togliatti, Volgograd, Kaliningrad, Krasnodar, Stavropol, Maykop (Adygea), Petrozavodsk (Karelia), Rostov-on-Don, Saratov, Yekaterinburg, Krasnoyarsk, Irkutsk, Omsk, Tomsk, Kemerovo, Tyumen, Murmansk, Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, Vladivostok. ==External links==
